Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients:
    In a separate large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and whole milk. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, whisking until smooth and the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add Flavor:
    Stir in the vanilla extract. If you want to add chocolate chips or chunks, fold them in now.
  4. Chill:
    Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until it’s thoroughly chilled.
  5. Churn:
    Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes.
  6. Freeze:
    Once churned, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
  7. Serve:
    Scoop and enjoy your homemade chocolate ice cream!
