Quick Dal Rice Recipe
Ingredients
- For Dal:
- 1 cup lentils (toor, moong, or masoor)
- 4 cups water
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 tomatoes (chopped)
- 2 green chilies (slit)
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Cilantro (for garnish)
- For Rice:
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Cook Lentils:
- Rinse lentils. In a pot, combine lentils, water, turmeric, and salt. Cook until soft (20-30 mins).
- Tempering:
- In a pan, heat oil, add chopped onion, green chilies, and tomatoes. Sauté until onions are golden. Pour this into the cooked lentils.
- Cook Rice:
- Rinse rice. In a separate pot, combine rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Serve:
- Fluff the rice and serve hot with dal, garnished with cilantro.
