🌶🍖 BBQ Beef Wonton Tacos
(Crispy wonton shells filled with savory BBQ beef, topped with fresh slaw and tangy BBQ sauce)
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4):
For the BBQ Beef:
- 1 lb ground beef (or shredded beef, if preferred)
- 2 tbsp BBQ sauce (use your favorite kind—sweet or smoky!)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
For the Wonton Shells:
- 24 wonton wrappers (about 1 package)
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Slaw:
- 1 cup shredded cabbage (or a pre-made coleslaw mix)
- 1/4 cup shredded carrots
- 2 tbsp mayo or Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp honey
- Salt & pepper, to taste
For Topping:
- Extra BBQ sauce for drizzling
- Fresh cilantro, chopped
- Optional: Jalapeño slices for a spicy kick
🔥 How to Make:
1. Cook the BBQ Beef:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked through, breaking it up into small crumbles.
- Stir in the BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt & pepper.
- Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the beef to absorb the BBQ sauce. Remove from heat and set aside.
2. Fry the Wonton Shells:
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Once the oil is hot (test by dropping a small piece of wonton wrapper—it should bubble and crisp immediately), fry the wonton wrappers in batches.
- Fry for about 30-40 seconds per side until golden and crispy. Use tongs to remove and drain on paper towels.
- If you prefer, you can also bake the wonton shells in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 7-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
3. Make the Slaw:
- In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrots, mayo or yogurt, apple cider vinegar, honey, and salt & pepper.
- Toss until well-coated. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
4. Assemble the Tacos:
- Carefully place the fried wonton shells on a plate, then spoon the BBQ beef mixture into each shell.
- Top with a spoonful of coleslaw.
- Drizzle with additional BBQ sauce and garnish with cilantro (and jalapeño slices for some heat, if desired).
