🛒 Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 4 cube steaks (or tenderized round steak)
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp each: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne (optional for heat)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

For the Gravy:

  • 3 tbsp of the leftover frying oil (or butter)
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2–2½ cups milk (preferably whole)
  • Salt & LOTS of black pepper (pepper is the vibe here)

🔥 How to Make:

Steak:

  1. Pat steaks dry, season with salt & pepper
  2. Set up dredging station:
    • One bowl: flour + spices
    • One bowl: eggs + milk (whisked)
  3. Dredge each steak in flour → egg mix → flour again (double dip = extra crunch)
  4. Heat ¼–½ inch oil in a skillet → fry steaks ~3–4 min per side until golden & crispy
  5. Remove to paper towel-lined plate → keep warm

Gravy:

  1. Keep ~3 tbsp of oil in the skillet
  2. Whisk in flour → cook 1–2 min to make a roux
  3. Slowly whisk in milk → stir constantly until thick and silky
  4. Season generously with salt and black pepper (go wild, it’s tradition)
