Homemade Chicken Nuggets
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (or cooking spray for baking)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Coating:
- In one bowl, place the flour and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
- In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.
2. Dredge the Chicken:
- Dip each piece of chicken first into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off.
- Finally, coat it in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
3. Frying Method:
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken nuggets in batches (don’t overcrowd the pan).
- Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.
4. Baking Method (optional):
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray with oil.
- Place the coated nuggets on the baking sheet and spray the tops with cooking spray.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
5. Serve:
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup, barbecue sauce, or honey mustard.
Enjoy your homemade chicken nuggets! They’re perfect for a snack, appetizer, or meal.
