Homemade Chicken Nuggets

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (or cooking spray for baking)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Coating:

  • In one bowl, place the flour and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  • In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
  • In a third bowl, add the breadcrumbs.

2. Dredge the Chicken:

  • Dip each piece of chicken first into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, letting any excess drip off.
  • Finally, coat it in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

3. Frying Method:

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken nuggets in batches (don’t overcrowd the pan).
  • Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.

4. Baking Method (optional):

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray with oil.
  • Place the coated nuggets on the baking sheet and spray the tops with cooking spray.
  • Bake for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.
