DAL RICE RECIPE METHOD

Quick Dal Rice Recipe

Ingredients

  • For Dal:
  • 1 cup lentils (toor, moong, or masoor)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 green chilies (slit)
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Cilantro (for garnish)
  • For Rice:
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Lentils:
  • Rinse lentils. In a pot, combine lentils, water, turmeric, and salt. Cook until soft (20-30 mins).
  1. Tempering:
  • In a pan, heat oil, add chopped onion, green chilies, and tomatoes. Sauté until onions are golden. Pour this into the cooked lentils.
  1. Cook Rice:
  • Rinse rice. In a separate pot, combine rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  1. Serve:
  • Fluff the rice and serve hot with dal, garnished with cilantro.
