π Ingredients (Makes about 8-10 bombs):
For the Sloppy Joe Filling:
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey, if preferred)
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 1/2 cup bell pepper (diced)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
For the Mac & Cheese:
- 2 cups cooked elbow macaroni (about 1/2 cup uncooked)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp flour (for thickening)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Bombs:
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (or pizza dough if you prefer a thicker wrap)
- 1 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional for extra crispy flavor)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional for extra flavor)
π₯ How to Make:
1. Make the Sloppy Joe Filling:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and bell pepper, and cook until softened (about 4-5 minutes).
- Add the ground beef (or turkey) to the pan, and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and salt and pepper.
- Let the mixture simmer for 5-10 minutes, until thickened and well combined.
- Set the filling aside to cool slightly.
2. Make the Mac & Cheese:
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Slowly add the milk, whisking continuously until smooth and thickened (about 3-4 minutes).
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and continue to stir until the cheese is fully melted.
- Add the cooked macaroni and mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Set aside to cool slightly.
3. Assemble the Sloppy Joe Mac Bombs:
- Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
- Roll out each biscuit dough round on a lightly floured surface into a flat circle (about 3 inches in diameter).
- Place a small spoonful of the mac and cheese in the center of each dough circle, followed by a spoonful of the sloppy joe mixture.
- Carefully fold the edges of the dough up around the filling and pinch them together to form a sealed ball.
- Place each bomb seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
4. Bake the Bombs:
- Brush the tops of the bombs with melted butter and sprinkle with grated parmesan and garlic powder, if desired.
